The loin cloth is the oldest known piece of fabric that was used as an undergarment. Its use dates back some 7000 years ago mainly with the ancient Hawaiians and Japanese. Those first loin cloths were usually made out leather. The two types of loincloths were triangular in shape and looked like the modern day bikini, and the other one was basically two pieces of cloth tied around the waist which would have looked like a miniskirt. In ancient Europe the slaves wore the loin cloths and the rest of the people did not wear any type of undergarment. Continue reading →
