The Evolution Of Clothes

The very idea of evolution has taken the world by storm since its historic revelation by Charles Darwin. His revolutionary idea made sense of all the various types of creatures inhabiting planet Earth. Evolution is the basic development of organisms according to the conditions and circumstances that they find themselves in. it occurs due to reaction and stimuli. For example, giraffes are animals with very long necks. But they were normal creatures which later on evolved into what they are now for they found that their favorite juicy leaves grew on the very top of trees. The stimulus was provided by nature; the growth of the leaves on the very top of trees and the reaction for these normal animals to grow into the long necked creatures that they are now. Thus, evolution is a timeless process; occurring all the time; even now; affecting not only the organic world, but also the inorganic one.

All objects that human beings use originated as an answer to some problem. As that problem evolved incorporating newer and newer issues, the answer also evolved parallel to the problem, incorporating the solutions to these issues. If we look at the any of the objects or materials that have become part and parcel of the day to day lives of human beings, we can find proof of this evolution by means of stimulus and reaction amongst them.

Take, for instance, clothes. Clothes are an integral part of our day-to-day life. They have been on the evolutionary trail since forever. They have come a long way since grass and leaves to the shirts, skirts and the lot. They have changed and adapted according to the different needs and necessities of the different people in different places. In the hot places, people tend to prefer cottons, whereas those living in the cold regions would rather have the wooly, furry clothing. In the long timeline drawn for the evolution of clothes, the one story that tends to stand out is that of our daily sturdy jeans.

Jeans or rather the material denim is a coarse durable cotton fabric. Their evolution is a beautiful phenomenon as a whole. They came into existence due to the need for a stronger, better and more durable fabric by a group of miners. Their hunt got them the treasured gem of denims.

The success of jeans has not only carved out a niche for them in the modern fashion industry but has also propelled denims in to stardom. Denims are now used to make a variety of clothing items including Denim shorts, dresses, Stretch Denim Leggings, bags and a whole lot of other items, but it's most famous association will forever remain with a rugged pair of jeans.
